About the role#
Northmarq is hiring a Loan Operations Intern for our Bloomington, Minnesota headquarters. This ten-week summer program offers exposure to the commercial real estate industry through our Operations Department. You will work alongside full-time staff in areas such as Escrow and Admin, Compliance, Investor Accounting, and Loan Processing. You will support commercial loan servicing activities, including portfolio onboarding, cash management, and operational process execution.
What you'll do#
- Plan and schedule your workload to meet project benchmarks.
- Provide customer service to lenders, borrowers, staff, and vendors.
- Analyze loan documents to onboard shell loans into our Servicing system.
- Coordinate and execute CMBS portfolio onboarding.
- Review and validate borrower ACH payment setups.
- Support collateral release through lien satisfaction processing.
- Complete escrow payment validation for monthly client certifications.
- Reconcile custodial accounts, manage money movements, and handle book balance entries.
- Research and compile documentation for audit requests.
- Assess compliance with lender requirements and support risk management initiatives.
- Participate in a Summer Intern Team Project and present your findings to Senior Management.
- Attend weekly mentor and networking meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, or Organization Management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- A customer-service mindset and a strong work ethic.
- Capability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- A positive attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Bloomington, Minnesota.
- This position does not provide immigration sponsorship. Candidates must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
