About the role#
The Corporate Communications + Community Impact intern will support the integrated communications team at the Norfolk Southern office in Atlanta. You will gain exposure to multiple functions, including internal and external communications, social media, brand and creative services, digital content, and community impact storytelling. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Draft and edit content for various internal and external channels.
- Support publication workflows, editorial calendars, events, and project status updates.
- Conduct research for media relations, community impact, social media, and employee communications projects.
- Review performance data to identify trends and provide recommendations.
- Organize project materials and maintain shared communications resources and templates.
- Prepare copy and assets for digital and print platforms.
- Contribute ideas during team meetings and track project follow-ups.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or Business Administration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including editing, proofreading, and storytelling.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and discretion with sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Curiosity about data and analytics in communications planning.
- Ability to receive and grow from constructive feedback.
- Prior experience in student media, internships, agency work, nonprofits, or social media is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, content management systems, project management tools, or analytics dashboards is a plus.
