About the role#
Norfolk Southern is hiring an Internal Audit Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Atlanta, Georgia. You will gain exposure to departments involved with financial expenditures and contribute to results used for annual financial statement, R1, and benefit plan audits.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff with testing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Conduct controls test work independently.
- Assist with seasonal substantive testing for various annual audits.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Basic skills in accounting, finance, or information systems.
- Experience with MS Office software.
- Relevant coursework in audit or compliance.
- Previous work experience in the financial or accounting industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to study reference materials, ask questions, and resolve problems.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to receive and grow from constructive feedback.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize work, and interact with various levels of management.
