About the role#
This internship focuses on scene reconstruction for autonomous driving. You will work on converting multimodal sensor data from research vehicles into structured representations. These representations support simulation, machine learning, and large-scale data generation. Your work helps enable the development of end-to-end and Vision-Language-Action driving systems.
What you'll do#
- Build software pipelines to process large-scale autonomous vehicle datasets.
- Fuse and synchronize data from cameras, localization systems, and vehicle-state measurements.
- Reconstruct road geometry, ego vehicle motion, and dynamic traffic participants.
- Design scene representations for simulation and training workflows.
- Create tools and metrics to measure reconstruction quality and performance.
- Partner with researchers in perception, mapping, prediction, and planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master's or PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Intent to return to your degree program after the internship.
- Strong Python skills and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Experience with ROS, robotics data processing, or sensor-based systems.
- Familiarity with computer vision, machine learning, or autonomous systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with C++ is a plus.
- Bonus points for experience with neural scene representations, Gaussian Splatting, simulation environments, multimodal sensor data, or foundation models.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Winter 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Santa Clara, California.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
