About the role#
This is a 12-week paid summer internship program starting in May 2027. You will help bring community engagement efforts to life through hands-on experience in communications, public relations, and outreach. This role is based in Chester, Virginia, and requires you to reside within 50 miles of the reporting location.
What you'll do#
- Support community events and serve as a brand ambassador to promote company messages across the service territory.
- Create social media and digital content, including capturing photos and videos.
- Assist with public relations projects, such as charitable giving campaigns and volunteer events.
- Develop news content for internal and external communications.
- Update community stakeholder lists.
- Research opportunities to further engage with communities.
- Develop strategies to track engagement efforts and measure outreach.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to share engagement efforts with stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- You must be a rising junior or senior in an undergraduate program for communications, public relations, social work, or a related field.
- Strong writing and organizational skills.
- Intermediate skill level with Canva, Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience or background in photography, videography, or editing.
- Ability to work as a self-starter and manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Columbia Gas of Virginia service territory for events.
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
