About the role#
This internship focuses on the intersection of technical security, critical thinking, and project management. You will help advance security initiatives by managing technologies, maintaining critical controls, and supporting audit processes. You will also assist in the administration of security programs and contribute to projects that improve the overall security posture of the organization.
What you'll do#
- Monitor external security vulnerabilities on company systems and route issues to the appropriate owners.
- Assist with information security audits, including annual SOC compliance activities.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding security policies, best practices, and general questions.
- Support the administration of both information and physical security programs.
- Conduct research and analyze security issues to contribute to ongoing projects.
- Maintain a commitment to the NISC Statement of Shared Values.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for cybersecurity, information security, information technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management concepts and resources like CVE, CVSS, and NVD.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.
- Foundational understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, access controls, and network segmentation.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for verbal, written, and presentation tasks.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
