About the role#
This internship focuses on the intersection of technical security work and project management. You will help advance security initiatives by managing technologies, maintaining critical controls, and supporting internal audits. You will also assist with the administration of physical and information security programs while contributing to projects that improve the organization's security posture.
What you'll do#
- Monitor external security vulnerabilities on company systems and route issues to the appropriate owners for remediation.
- Assist with information security audits, including annual SOC compliance activities.
- Serve as a resource for other employees regarding security questions, policies, and best practices.
- Conduct research and analyze security issues to support ongoing projects.
- Maintain a commitment to the NISC Statement of Shared Values.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A high school diploma or equivalency is required.
- You have a basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threats, and vulnerabilities.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management resources like CVE, CVSS, and NVD.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.
- A foundational understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, access controls, and network segmentation.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for verbal, written, and presentation tasks.
- The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in either Lake St. Louis, Missouri, or Mandan, North Dakota.
