About the role#
The Information Security internship at NISC combines technical work with project management. You will help advance our security initiatives by managing security technologies, maintaining critical controls, and supporting internal audits and policy development.
What you'll do#
- Monitor external security vulnerabilities on company systems and route issues to the appropriate owners for remediation.
- Assist with information security audits, including annual SOC compliance activities.
- Serve as a resource for other employees regarding security questions, policies, and best practices.
- Support the administration of both information and physical security programs.
- Research and analyze security issues to contribute to projects that strengthen the organization.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for information security, cyber security, information technology, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threats, and vulnerabilities.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management resources like CVE, CVSS, and NVD.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.
- A foundational understanding of networking concepts such as firewalls, network segmentation, and access controls.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently or in a team, and maintain confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills and a commitment to our Statement of Shared Values.
