About the role#
This internship is part of the Advanced Product Intelligence team within the Advanced Innovation Collective. You will work with teammates across ML engineering, computational engineering, and generative design to build intelligent capabilities for physical product design. You will focus on applying AI and machine learning to help teams evaluate and improve product concepts.
What you'll do#
- Build intelligent models, workflows, and prototypes using product performance data.
- Prototype AI/ML tools that support engineering and creative workflows for footwear and apparel design.
- Explore applications of AI/ML to engineering simulation workflows, including physics-based modeling and FEA.
- Train lightweight, domain-specific predictive ML models.
- Build interactive prototypes or internal tools.
- Present your project to stakeholders at the end of the internship.
- Contribute to documentation that helps scale your work.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computational Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Graduation date between Winter 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Strong foundational understanding of core machine learning concepts.
- Hands-on experience building AI/ML-powered systems or technical prototypes.
- Experience in areas such as surrogate modeling, computer vision, transformers, 3D geometry, or simulation data.
- Exposure to engineering simulation methods like finite element analysis, optimization, or design exploration.
- Proficiency in Python and common ML libraries.
- Ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces and propose your own ideas.
- Experience communicating technical findings to diverse audiences.
