About the role#
As a Substation Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced engineers and designers to support projects that deliver power to utilities, industrial facilities, and renewable energy developments. You will gain hands-on exposure to the design and construction of electrical substations while receiving mentorship on real client projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development and review of substation deliverables like reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Support electrical design activities for transmission and distribution substations.
- Create and revise one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment layouts, conduit plans, and construction packages.
- Perform engineering calculations under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support when opportunities arise.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- A strong interest in power systems, electrical infrastructure, and substation engineering.
- A basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and power distribution concepts.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
