About the role#
The Student Security Worker supports the Campus Security Department in maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will work under the supervision of the Director of Security to assist with monitoring, patrols, and customer service tasks across the Newman University campus.
What you'll do#
- Conduct foot or vehicle patrols of assigned areas.
- Support access control procedures, including locking and unlocking buildings.
- Report suspicious activity, hazards, or incidents to the Director of Security.
- Assist with crowd management and safety during special events or campus activities.
- Complete basic logs, reports, and incident documentation.
- Provide information and assistance to students and visitors.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current Newman University student enrolled full-time with a minimum of 12 credit hours.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- You must remain calm and professional in various situations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and professional integrity.
- Ability to walk campus grounds for extended periods, climb stairs, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds.
- Previous customer service or security experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Wichita, Kansas.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: 12 to 20 hours per week, with availability for afternoon and evening shifts.
- This position is paid.
