Student - Security Worker

About the role#

The Student Security Worker supports the Campus Security Department in maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role involves routine monitoring, patrols, and customer service functions across campus under the supervision of the Director of Security.

What you'll do#

• Conduct foot or vehicle patrols of assigned areas.
• Support access control procedures, including locking and unlocking buildings and monitoring entrances.
• Provide general assistance and information to the campus community.
• Report suspicious activity, hazards, or incidents to the Director of Security.
• Assist with special events, including crowd management and safety support.
• Complete basic logs, reports, and incident documentation.
• Follow all university safety policies and procedures.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a full-time Newman University student (minimum 12 credit hours).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in various situations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Reliability, integrity, and professionalism.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Ability to walk campus grounds for extended periods, climb stairs, and work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds.
• Previous customer service or security-related experience is preferred.

• Location: Wichita, Kansas.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: 12–20 hours per week with availability for afternoon/evening shifts and occasional special events.
• Compensation: Paid position.
