About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern on the Robotics and Surgery Engineering team, you will design and produce hardware solutions for brain-machine interface devices. Your work will support surgical robotics, automation, and microfabrication. You will own projects from the initial concept through to production.
What you'll do#
- Apply your mechanical engineering background to solve problems in brain-machine interfaces.
- Collaborate with neuroscientists, biologists, and engineers to define design criteria.
- Build systems that improve surgical accuracy and safety.
- Manage projects from start to finish.
What you'll need#
- At least 6 months of technical experience outside of the classroom, such as research, personal projects, or previous internships.
- A strong grasp of engineering first principles.
- Proficiency in Solidworks or similar CAD software.
- Experience with conventional machining and rapid prototyping.
- Background in precision design and manufacturing.
- Experience with advanced imaging techniques.
- Ability to work across different disciplines and communicate clearly with various teams.
- Flexibility and a resourceful approach to problem-solving.
- 1+ years of industry experience in mechanical engineering is preferred.

- Location: South San Francisco, California.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- The position operates on a rolling basis.
