About the role#
As a Neuroengineer Intern, you will work with the Next Gen team to develop brain-computer interfaces. You will contribute to projects that range from designing novel experimental preparations to interpreting neural signals and behavioral data. This role requires you to apply your technical and creative skills to solve a variety of problems.
What you'll do#
- Investigate and map neural correlates of sensory and internally-generated states.
- Build and iterate on machine learning architectures to map neural activity to complex, multi-dimensional outputs.
- Design, execute, interpret, and communicate results from experiments, including non-human primate electrophysiology and human fMRI studies.
- Present your findings in a collaborative setting.
What you'll need#
- Evidence of exceptional ability in neuroscience, machine learning, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of academic or industry experience.
- A strong understanding of the scientific method and engineering first principles.
- Fluency with Python for data analysis.
- Experience with modern machine learning, including LLMs, LLM interpretability, and generative models.
- Expertise in analyzing neural population dynamics and applying manifold analysis techniques to high-dimensional neural data.
- A background in neural decoding, specifically in movement or speech.
- Experience with human fMRI experimental design, execution, and data analysis.
- Experience with in-vivo electrophysiology, particularly awake-behaving recordings in non-human primates or closed-loop brain-computer interfaces.
