About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work on hardware solutions for brain-computer interface devices. You will contribute to projects spanning from initial concept to production, working on components for surgical robotics, automation, and microfabrication.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, test, and validate systems for the implant and related hardware components.
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes and equipment to support in-house production.
- Scope, design, and iterate custom tooling and fixturing for the implant assembly line.
- Collaborate with Quality, Electrical Engineering, BCI Software, Microfabrication, and Surgery Engineering to define system requirements.
- Manage project schedules to ensure timely completion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 6 months of relevant academic coursework or project experience.
- 9 months of experience applying technical skills outside the classroom, such as personal projects or previous work.
- 1 year of mechanical design experience.
- A strong understanding of engineering first principles.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- 1 year of mechanical engineering industry experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with machining and rapid prototyping technologies.
- Experience with precision design and manufacturing.
- Exposure to medical device design and manufacturing.
