About the role#
This internship provides hands-on field experience within our wastewater treatment facilities. You will work directly with plant engineering staff on projects involving engineering investigations, system analysis, and process control optimization. The role supports the delivery of reliable and environmentally responsible plant operations.
What you'll do#
- Conduct field investigations to assess equipment performance and coordinate with vendors.
- Perform sampling and testing of wastewater processes to determine optimal chemical feed.
- Monitor process control parameters and report findings when data falls outside of expected ranges.
- Analyze operational trends to evaluate the correlation between decisions and treatment outcomes.
- Assist staff in building and testing process and hydraulic models to improve efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentation materials.
- Participate in professional development workshops, networking sessions, and industry exposure activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program or graduation within the past 24 months.
- A degree or progress toward a degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with effective project and time management abilities.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to provide your own ANSI or ASTM certified steel or composite-toed work boots for the first day of work.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 to June 2027).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $19.82 per hour for undergraduates and $21.85 per hour for graduate students.
