    About the role#

    The National Youth Advocate Program is looking for a Bachelor level student to join the Foster Care team in Indianapolis for the Winter 2027 term. This is an on-site, full-time, unpaid internship designed to provide hands-on experience with youth in the foster care system. You will also have the chance to observe various therapeutic areas within the agency to better understand the clients and communities we serve.

    What you'll do#

    • Work directly with foster care youth and their foster parents.
    • Assist with case management duties.
    • Learn how to create diagnostic assessments and treatment plans.
    • Assess and engage with youth to support their needs.
    • Observe interventions and interact with a variety of professionals, including school staff, office staff, parents, and mental health providers.
    • Handle documentation and paperwork as part of the daily workflow.
    • Travel daily to provide community-based services to families and youth.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Social Work program at an accredited college or university.
    • A requirement from your institution to complete an internship or field placement.
    • Proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, and software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
    • A valid driver license, a good driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
    • Automobile insurance with a minimum bodily injury liability coverage of $100,000/$300,000.
