    About the role#

    The Sacred Grounds Fellow joins the Conservation Department in Washington, D.C. This program works with faith communities to establish native plant gardens and educate members on conservation. You will support a 12 to 24 month educational program, working directly with congregations, green teams, and partners across the Washington D.C. metro area. This is a full-time, paid, 11-month position ending August 31, 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct outreach to congregations for educational events, webinars, and field trips.
    • Coordinate native plant pick-up days, managing logistics, staffing, and finances.
    • Create educational and promotional materials, including fact sheets, flyers, signs, and social media content.
    • Track program metrics such as event attendance and plant distribution numbers.
    • Research local stormwater rebate programs, climate action plans, and native plant gardening practices.
    • Maintain event calendars, mailing lists, and project documentation.

    What you'll need#

    • Interest in conservation biology, wildlife management, ecology, or habitat restoration.
    • Experience with community organizing and creating outreach materials using graphics.
    • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Google documents.
    • Comfort communicating with people from a variety of faith backgrounds.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyze complex information.
