About the role#
The Operations Internship at National Life Group provides undergraduate students with hands-on experience in the life insurance application process. This full-time, paid program runs during the Summer 2027 term. You will rotate through various operational functions to understand how applications are processed, policies are issued, and customer needs are met. This role is on-site, with an expectation to be in the office four days per week.
What you'll do#
- Receive and review incoming life insurance applications for accuracy and completeness.
- Input application data into company systems and verify information.
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to organize documents, communicate requirements, and track case statuses.
- Learn about underwriting procedures, including medical reviews, financial evaluations, and risk assessment.
- Support policy setup, including final documentation and issuance of certificates.
- Communicate with applicants, agents, and internal teams regarding application status.
- Participate in projects to improve operational efficiency.
- Track key performance indicators related to processing times, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit or recent completion of a degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Excellent communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with insurance or CRM software is a plus.
