About the role#
The National Life Group Internship Program offers undergraduate students hands-on experience in the financial services industry. This paid, full-time summer 2027 opportunity provides exposure to GAAP and statutory reporting through team-based learning, cross-functional collaboration, and meaningful assignments. You will work alongside professionals in Financial Reporting and interact with departments such as Actuarial, Investment Accounting, and Treasury.
What you'll do#
- Assist with GAAP and statutory financial reporting activities, including reconciliations, validation, and supporting schedules.
- Perform financial statement linking and tie-outs.
- Support the preparation and review of audited financial statements and MD&A materials.
- Participate in monthly and quarterly financial reporting and close processes.
- Gain exposure to ERP system transitions and Workday.
- Complete an individual project focused on accounting research, process improvement, technology, or academic concepts.
- Partner with Financial Reporting team members and cross-functional groups to understand the broader reporting process.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Intellectual curiosity and an initiative-taking approach.
- Growth mindset with an openness to feedback.
- Willingness to learn new tools, systems, and processes.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role based in Addison, Texas, or Montpelier, Vermont.
- The internship requires an on-site presence four days per week (Monday through Thursday).
- This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2027.
