About the role#
The Capital Management Intern will gain exposure to how a life and annuity insurer evaluates capital needs. You will support the monitoring, analysis, and forecasting of the company's financial strength and risk position. This role involves working across Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, and Risk Management teams to understand the drivers of capital changes and regulatory impacts.
What you'll do#
- Update capital analysis on a quarterly and as-needed basis, including data population and result interpretation.
- Assist in preparing quarterly Risk-Based Capital calculation and attribution analysis.
- Perform impact analysis regarding proposed regulatory capital changes for RBC and S&P models.
- Improve the efficiency of working files and document capital management processes.
- Collaborate with internal partners and perform ad hoc analysis to support capital management activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Studies, or a similar quantitative field.
- Experience gathering, organizing, cleaning, and interpreting data sets.
- Working exposure to relational databases like Microsoft SQL or Access and writing queries.
- Familiarity with analytical and visualization tools such as Tableau and Alteryx.
- Foundational knowledge of financial principles, including interest rates, investments, and financial statements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to meet deadlines for recurring reporting.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Addison, Texas, or Montpelier, Vermont.
- You are expected to work in the office four days per week, Monday through Thursday.
