About the role#
As a Data Science Intern, you will join the AI Center of Excellence to help transform our business through machine learning, advanced analytics, and generative AI. You will work on real-world projects that support our insurance and annuity operations. This role offers the chance to apply both traditional data science methods and emerging AI technologies within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
What you'll do#
- Prepare, explore, and validate datasets and features for life insurance and annuity use cases.
- Support the development and evaluation of statistical and machine-learning models.
- Help design experiments and analyze business outcomes using clear measures of success.
- Develop reusable Python and SQL workflows, including validation checks and documentation.
- Prototype and evaluate generative AI applications, assessing output quality and business usefulness.
- Apply responsible AI and data-handling practices, including the treatment of sensitive information.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and business audiences.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience using data analysis or machine-learning libraries like pandas and scikit-learn.
- Working knowledge of SQL, including querying, joining, and aggregating data.
- Familiarity with foundational statistical and machine-learning concepts, such as regression, classification, model evaluation, and hypothesis testing.
- Curiosity and a strong desire to learn about the practical application of AI and statistical methods.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Addison, Texas, or Montpelier, Vermont.
