    About the role#

    The NAMI HelpLine Research Intern supports our peer-support service by maintaining the accuracy of our resource databases. You will help ensure that people seeking mental health support receive correct information. This role provides an opportunity to build your knowledge of mental health conditions, recovery strategies, and care systems. You will work remotely and participate in a supportive virtual community with regular coaching and weekly team meetings.

    What you'll do#

    • Audit the HelpLine resource database using WordPress and internet research.
    • Verify the Warmline Directory through phone, SMS, and internet research.
    • Use Microsoft Excel to manage taxonomy assignments, tagging, and synonym development.
    • Document your hours and completed activities.
    • Attend one virtual group meeting per week.
    • Follow all HelpLine service program policies and procedures.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an MPH academic program.
    • At least 20 years of age.
    • Lived personal experience, either in recovery for at least one year or as a caregiver for a loved one with a mental health condition.
    • Proficiency with WordPress, Microsoft Excel, and general computer programs.
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
    • Must be located in the United States.
    • Ability to pass a background check.

    Location & details#

    • This is a paid, remote internship.
    • The term runs from January 11, 2027, through July 1, 2027.
    • You must commit to a minimum of 8 hours per week, totaling 300 hours.
    • Working hours are scheduled between Monday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
    • You must have access to a private workspace, a computer with a current operating system, and reliable high-speed internet.
