    About the role#

    The Knowledge Development (KDEV) team at NAFSA: Association of International Educators is seeking a Fall Intern for the 2026 term. This role supports the association's efforts in higher education internationalization, conference programming, and publishing services. The intern will report to the Associate Director of Global and Conference Engagement and work across multiple departmental units.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the conference program team with the 2027 NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo proposal submission process.
    • Conduct research on higher education institutions and organizations to assist with conference planning.
    • Compile information and design infographics for international conference attendees.
    • Research emerging trends in international higher education across key global regions.
    • Develop a visitor engagement plan to improve the experience of international delegates.
    • Assist with the planning of global leadership programming, including forums and summit activities.
    • Collaborate with publishing colleagues to create conference-related content.
    • Evaluate tools to streamline onsite scheduling and improve team coordination.

    What you'll need#

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and Word.
    • Experience in customer service.
    • Familiarity with Zoom and social media platforms.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • An interest in or knowledge of higher education, global affairs, travel, or event planning.
    • Ability to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
    • Pursuing a degree in fields such as International Relations, Communications, Political Science, Business Administration, Marketing, Sociology, Psychology, or Civil Engineering.

    Location & details#

    • Location: On-site in Washington, DC.
    • Term: Fall 2026 (September through mid-December).
    • Compensation: $18.40 per hour for up to 20 hours per week.
