About the role#
The Knowledge Development team at NAFSA: Association of International Educators is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 term. This position supports the department in advancing international education through conference planning, thought leadership, and global program content. You will report to the Associate Director, Global and Conference Engagement.
What you'll do#
- Support the conference program team with the 2027 NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo proposal submission process.
- Conduct location research on higher education institutions and organizations to aid conference planning.
- Compile information and design an infographic for international conference attendees.
- Research emerging trends in international higher education across key global regions.
- Develop a visitor engagement plan to enhance the experience of international visitors and delegates.
- Assist with the planning and development of global and leadership programming, including forums and summit activities.
- Collaborate with publishing colleagues to create conference-related content and research tools for improved scheduling and workload management.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and Word.
- Experience in customer service.
- Familiarity with Zoom and social media platforms.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- An interest in or knowledge of higher education, global affairs, travel, or event planning.
- Ability to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position located in Washington, DC.
- The term runs from September through mid-December 2026.
- This is a part-time role at 20 hours per week.
- Compensation is $18.40 per hour.
