About the role#
As an Engineering Intern at MSI Express, you will gain hands-on experience in our manufacturing facilities. You will work on real business challenges, partner with leaders across the company, and turn ideas into action. This 10-week summer program concludes with a presentation to senior leadership regarding your results and recommendations.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the startup, validation, and optimization of manufacturing lines to improve efficiency and throughput.
- Support continuous improvement projects that reduce waste and enhance productivity.
- Develop and update work instructions, centerline documents, standard operating procedures, and process improvement plans.
- Monitor and analyze production throughput, equipment performance, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to support manufacturing and capital improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related academic program.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to analyze technical and operational data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Interest in process engineering, manufacturing operations, and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
- Technical aptitude and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- Location: Grand Prairie, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10 weeks).
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $19.00 per hour.
- Note: This role requires working in both office and manufacturing environments. You will be exposed to production areas with moving machinery, varying temperatures, and noise. You must be able to follow all safety requirements, wear required personal protective equipment, and stand or walk for extended periods.
