About the role#
The Biophysics Intern position is part of the Future Talent Program within the Protein Sciences, Biochemistry and Biophysics group. You will join a team in Rahway, New Jersey, to explore how ligands interact with therapeutic targets and study their effects on structure and function. This is a paid, full-time internship lasting 10 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Solve problems to support the development of small and large molecule pipelines.
- Record experimental data accurately in electronic notebooks.
- Follow safe laboratory practices at all times.
- Present your data and findings to a team of scientists.
- Participate in departmental and team meetings to learn about the drug development process.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an academic program pursuing a BS, BA, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Biomedical Sciences.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies or one year of graduate studies by June 2027.
- Availability to continue education for at least one semester following the internship.
- Basic laboratory skills and research experience in areas like protein biochemistry, enzymology, molecular biology, or assay development.
- A strong academic background in biophysics, biochemistry, and biology.
- Preferred experience includes hands-on work with ITC, SPR, thermal shift assays, MST, DLS, CD, NMR, and spectroscopic techniques.
- Familiarity with protein analysis and visualization using PyMOL is a plus.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
