About the role#
The 3DT Materials & Process Co-op role supports our 3D Technologies enterprise team. You will focus on Quality & Compliance (QC) efforts, helping to bridge the gap between 3D printing techniques and pharmaceutical manufacturing standards. This position provides exposure to lab operations, equipment qualification, and research initiatives that support our broader business objectives.
What you'll do#
- Qualify new printers and equipment for service, including establishing processing conditions to meet quality controls.
- Analyze print failures across our equipment fleet to identify root causes.
- Document equipment failures and part defects to refine our Quality Control checks.
- Identify improvement opportunities within lab development and operations.
- Conduct research to expand internal capabilities, such as 3D printing for injection molding, tablets, or bioprocessing components.
- Use material characterization and imaging equipment like micro-CT, izod impact, and HDT testers.
- Perform hands-on post-processing techniques and represent the team at outreach events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Intent to return to university following this assignment to complete graduation requirements.
- Availability for a full-time, 4-6 month commitment from April 2027 through September 2027.
- Hands-on experience with 3D printers, including CAD, slicing, printing, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software and good documentation practices.
- Knowledge of testing methods such as x-ray computed tomography (XRCT), optical microscopy, hardness testing, or tensile testing is preferred.

- Location: West Point, Pennsylvania.
- Work Modality: On-site (4-5 days per week).
- Duration: Summer and Fall 2027.
- Status: Full-time paid co-op.
