About the role#
This is a part-time, year-round internship based in San Diego. You will support R&D scale-up and process development by working directly with pharmaceutical process engineers and chemists. This role provides hands-on experience with equipment and systems used in early-stage drug development.
What you'll do#
- Draft development batch records (DBRs) for R&D experiments.
- Document experiments in DBRs under the supervision of an engineer.
- Perform routine experiments independently.
- Assist in experimentation and development activities under professional supervision.
- Complete executed DBRs and generate technical reports.
- Setup, breakdown, and clean manufacturing and laboratory equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace.
- Troubleshoot equipment with the engineering team.
- Work on process improvement projects.
- Learn and comply with cGMP practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time Engineering student, ideally in your third year.
- Preference for Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering majors.
- Completion of a college-level science lab.
- Familiarity with basic lab equipment.
- Basic knowledge of chemistry and statistics is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Location & details#
- Location: San Diego, California.
- Work Modality: 100% on-site.
- Schedule: 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8am and 5pm.
- Compensation: $20 per hour.
