About the role#
The Institutional Equity Co-Op program offers a six-month immersive experience within the Institutional Equity Division (IED) at Morgan Stanley. You will join a specific desk to gain hands-on exposure to financial markets, equity products, and client relationship management. This is a full-time, paid position designed for students to contribute to desk operations while learning from industry professionals.
What you'll do#
- Manage and deepen relationships with institutional equity clients.
- Deliver research, market insights, and actionable investment ideas.
- Facilitate client participation in equity capital market activities.
- Connect clients with firm resources across various products and platforms.
- Maintain an understanding of client portfolios and investment priorities.
- Translate market intelligence back to internal partners.
- Provide clearing, custody, and financing solutions to hedge funds.
- Support business development and client service initiatives.
- Curate strategic research on hedge fund trading activity.
- Analyze positioning and leverage to identify market risks.
- Manage the clearing of futures, options, and OTC swaps.
- Deliver financial analytics and client profitability insights.
- Support treasury, liquidity management, and balance sheet optimization.
What you'll need#
- Availability to work full-time, in-person from January through June 2027.
- Current pursuit of an undergraduate degree with a graduation date after December 2027.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn and use new software applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highest attention to detail.
- Professional attitude, strong work ethic, and a collaborative spirit.
- Ability to execute tasks quickly, multi-task, and prioritize effectively.
- Quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A keen interest in finance and markets.
