About the role#
The Transportation Internship is a temporary, full-time student role based in our Atlanta office for Summer 2027. You will support project teams by performing routine technical assignments under direct supervision. This position provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects, including roadway, municipal, rail, port, and traffic work. You will work closely with technicians, engineers, and project managers to learn our core tools, standards, and workflows.
What you'll do#
- Produce basic drawings, models, calculations, or code using approved software.
- View, navigate, and measure 2D and 3D models.
- Follow established CAD/BIM, graphics, and file-naming standards.
- Assist with engineering design tasks and the development of specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
- Collect and organize project data for analysis.
- Perform numerical and statistical analysis, including testing and debugging simulation models.
- Document assumptions, process flows, and results for review.
- Implement corrections on deliverables and resolve routine technical issues.
- Participate in intern orientation, training, and technical check-ins.
- Communicate task status and ask clarifying questions to support the project team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a related technical field, with junior standing or above preferred.
- High school or technical diploma.
- 0-2 years of drafting, CAD, or related technical experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Basic understanding of transportation engineering fundamentals and design standards.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work under direct supervision.
- Legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
