About the role#
This is a 6-month co-op position within the Engineering Research and Development department. You will report to the Senior Compliance Manager and work on-site in Rochester, New York. The program begins in January 2027 and covers both the winter and summer terms. You may be required to travel for up to 25% of the role.
What you'll do#
- Partner with the Compliance Engineering team to manage product compliance processes.
- Conduct research on environmental regulations including RoHS, REACH, TSCA, and PFAS.
- Maintain and update internal documentation and databases.
- Generate test plans and formal test reports.
- Assist with the mitigation of non-compliant designs.
- Provide support for 3rd party safety agencies like UL, TUV, and CSA.
- Support EMC testing and certification activities.
- Work in both office and lab environments, which may involve standing or assisting with heavy objects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, with at least 3 years completed.
- Proficiency with MS Office and MS Teams.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Troubleshooting skills for high power electrical and electronic products.
- Familiarity with domestic and international regulations, including environmental standards like California Pro65 and TASCA.
- Knowledge of EMC directives such as EN 61326-1 and EN 61000-4.
- Knowledge of safety standards including IEC, CSA, and UL 61010-1.
- Understanding of FCC and international approval processes.
- Strong communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Rochester, New York.
- Term: 6 months, starting January 2027.
- Pay: $25.00 to $31.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 days of accrued paid vacation for those working at least 20 hours per week.
