About the role#
The Energy Systems Group develops technology to improve the resilience and efficiency of civilian and defense power systems. As a summer intern, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team to build technologies that secure critical infrastructure. You will engage in hands-on research while working alongside scientists and engineers. This position is a full-time, on-site role for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop software to advance AI and machine learning algorithms for energy infrastructure.
- Design, train, and evaluate AI and machine learning solutions.
- Create and curate normalized data sets using real-world sensor measurements and synthetic data.
- Build data pipelines to support the evaluation of algorithms.
- Design user interfaces for evaluation platforms.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- Proficiency in software development with a focus on Python.
- Knowledge of software design, development, and testing.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming fundamentals.
- Experience with DevSecOps tools and workflows.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques and power system architectures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in teams.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
Location & details#
- Location: Lexington, Massachusetts.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- This is a paid, full-time internship. U.S. citizenship is required for the security clearance.
