About the role#
The Communication Networks and Analysis Group is looking for an intern to assist in the development and performance analysis of algorithms and protocols for wireless communications networks. You will work under the guidance of a mentor to design, implement, and test new protocols across multiple layers of the protocol stack.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research and development in communications networks, focusing on physical and MAC layer algorithms and protocols.
- Characterize performance and fidelity limitations of current physical- and link-layer wireless network emulation techniques.
- Discover methods to improve these limitations.
- Collect and analyze performance data from physical- and link-layer wireless network emulation models under high-throughput and low-latency scenarios.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Completed coursework in communications and networks.
- Experience with programming and scripting languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Linux is preferred.
- Experience with network monitoring and test tools like Wireshark or iPerf is a plus.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level DoD security clearance.

- This is an on-site role based in Lexington, Massachusetts.
- The internship takes place during the Summer 2027 term.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
