About the role#
The Energy Systems Group develops technology solutions to improve the resilience and efficiency of defense energy systems. As an intern in our Summer Research Program, you will join a multi-disciplinary team to research and develop power electronic circuitry and the controls that operate these devices. Your work will focus on increasing performance and developing new power electronics designs to support national security challenges.
What you'll do#
- Research and develop power electronic circuitry and controls.
- Develop methods to increase system performance.
- Analyze existing power systems to identify capabilities, risks, and specific needs.
- Create new power electronics designs.
- Develop technology solutions for power systems.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Fluency in high-level programming languages such as Python or Matlab.
- Experience with power electronics simulation tools like Simulink, Ansys, spice, or SABER.
- Hands-on skills in circuit design and testing within a lab environment.
- Familiarity with RF and high-frequency hardware.
- Experience developing, implementing, and testing new algorithms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.

- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time position.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with rates based on academic standing.
