    About the role#

    The Optical Engineering Group develops prototype satellite, airborne, and terrestrial optical systems. As an intern, you will apply your academic knowledge to national security challenges by engaging in hands-on research. You will work across the entire optical system development life-cycle and support key mission areas.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate with engineers and technicians on prototype optical systems.
    • Participate in research projects and mission support activities.
    • Document your work and follow established written procedures.
    • Engage in hands-on technical tasks within a team environment.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a qualified Optical Technology career program with at least one year completed.
    • Experience working with optical-mechanical hardware and handling optics.
    • Proficiency with optical tooling such as interferometers, alignment scopes, profilometers, inspection microscopes, or theodolites.
    • Familiarity with optical fabrication techniques and specifications.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in teams.
    • U.S. citizenship is required.
