    About the role#

    This co-op position supports technical staff in the Mechanical Engineering Group. You will work on research and program execution for projects involving laser communication, telescopes, hypersonics, and radar systems. The role provides exposure to precision engineering, electronics packaging, and additive manufacturing.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop concepts using CAD software to create part models, manage assemblies, and oversee fabrication.
    • Build and run finite element models to analyze structural or thermal performance.
    • Perform hands-on prototyping, 3D printing, and system integration.
    • Design and execute tests for mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems.
    • Create databases and analyze test data.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in an undergraduate program for Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, Astronautics, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics.
    • Completion of a Mechanics of Materials course or an equivalent class.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
    • Experience with CAD, finite element analysis, or prototyping is preferred.
