    About the role#

    The Homeland Protection Systems Group develops and assesses technologies to protect national airspace and critical infrastructure. As a Student Technical Assistant, you will support ongoing projects focused on radar and machine learning. This is a part-time role for the Fall 2026 term.

    What you'll do#

    • Collect, analyze, and preprocess data.
    • Support testing for real-time machine learning systems used in radar applications.
    • Write scripts and tools to improve development feedback loops and deploy machine learning systems at scale.
    • Present your work to technical audiences.
    • Join team meetings and contribute to technical discussions.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a degree program, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
    • Availability for approximately 20 hours per week during the Fall 2026 term.
    • Experience with C++ and Python.
    • Knowledge of machine learning architectures, signal processing, data structures, or software development principles.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and with a team.
    • A GPA of 3.5 or higher is preferred.

    Location & details#

    • This position is located on-site in Lexington, Massachusetts.
    • The role is paid and part-time.
    • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
