About the role#
This internship focuses on processing and analyzing historical diagnostic data from dense plasma focus experiments. You will work on converting historical records into a usable database format while learning the fundamentals of neutron diagnostics and radiation generating device operations. This is a casual position with a maximum of 900 hours per calendar year. US citizenship is required for this role.
What you'll do#
- Convert and organize historical data into a single source.
- Implement data standards across project files.
- Interpret diagnostic data into usable, contextualized information for project stakeholders.
- Utilize data analysis tools to manage experimental records.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the first year of a calculus-based STEM degree program (Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics).
- Active enrollment in an accredited institution.
- A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office and programming experience.
- Planning and organizing skills with the initiative to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to follow directions.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential.
- Residence in the contiguous United States.
Location & details#
- Location: Mercury, Nevada (Area 11 of the Nevada National Security Site).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 4/10s, Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
- Compensation: $16.74 - $26.56 per hour.
- Requirements: A pre-placement drug screen is required, and the company maintains a substance abuse policy including random drug testing.
