The Outreach Coordinator acts as a bridge between Mid-Hudson Energy Transition (MHET) and the communities it serves. This role focuses on building connections with residents, small businesses, and stakeholders in Kingston and the surrounding Hudson Valley to support renewable energy initiatives. You will work to ensure community members are informed about programs such as Community Solar, Home Upgrade Grants, and the Home Energy Loan Program.
What you'll do#
- Foster authentic and compassionate relationships with community members.
- Conduct public engagement through in-person, digital, and print methods to explain program objectives and benefits.
- Assist in the execution of outreach events and contribute to refining engagement strategies.
- Provide ongoing support to community members regarding program inquiries and enrollment.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach efforts and participant information.
- Develop a strong understanding of climate justice and energy equity principles.
- Collaborate with local partners, service providers, and stakeholders to address energy-related concerns.
What you'll need#
- Enthusiasm for community engagement and outreach.
- A desire to learn about energy systems; in-depth prior knowledge is not required.
- Experience working with diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, supported by strong organizational and time management skills.
- Prior experience in community organizing, marketing, or related fields is a plus.
- Established connections with the BIPOC/LMI community is a plus.
- Relevant academic backgrounds include Environmental Engineering, Political Science, Public Health, Business Administration, Communications, or Sociology.
Location & details#
- Location: Kingston, New York, and surrounding Hudson Valley areas.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling, 3-6 months.
- Hours: 15-18 hours per week for full-time students; up to 20 hours per week for non-students.
- Compensation: $22 - $25 per hour.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be students or recent graduates (within the last 12 months) of a New York State college or university, or New York State residents attending an out-of-state institution.
