About the role#
As an SSD Firmware Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop, test, and improve firmware for Micron SSD products. This role provides hands-on experience in embedded systems, firmware development, debugging, and AI-assisted engineering workflows. You will contribute to the performance, quality, and reliability of next-generation storage solutions.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop, test, and enhance SSD firmware features.
- Debug and resolve firmware issues to improve product performance and reliability.
- Develop and implement test plans to validate firmware functionality.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improvements in code quality.
- Document firmware features, updates, and technical information for internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Must be returning to school following the internship.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research, coursework, or projects.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
- Basic understanding of embedded systems, firmware development, and software debugging.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools and large language models to support work activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with SSD technology, storage systems, or computer hardware architectures is preferred.
- Experience with Git, JIRA, and Python is a plus.
