About the role#
Michael Baker International is hiring a Federal Intern for our San Diego office. This part-time, paid internship offers the chance to work with a team on various civil engineering projects. You will gain practical experience by supporting project documentation, design, and site analysis.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design, construction documents, plan production, maps, and basic reports.
- Gather project site information by reviewing as-built plans and mapping utility services.
- Learn and use CAD and Microsoft Office software to create design documents, exhibits, and computations.
- Help prepare drawings for land development projects.
- Calculate quantities and project cost estimates.
- Coordinate with design technicians to ensure deliverables are accurate and on time.
- Prepare documents for regulatory agencies and assist with client meeting preparations.
- Attend internal project meetings and occasionally visit project sites to report findings to Engineers and Project Managers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of coursework toward your degree.
- Strong technical and communication skills with a focus on quality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
