About the role#
This internship with the Long Island Rail Road Operations Support department focuses on the management of infrastructure assets. You will work with an experienced team to maintain safety, reliability, and efficiency across our rail projects. You will support the management of scope, schedule, and quality for in-house projects including the Annual Track Programs and the Concrete Tie Program. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Create, update, and organize project documentation such as plans, reports, and meeting minutes.
- Facilitate team communication by scheduling meetings and distributing updates.
- Assist in the development of project timelines, track milestones, and manage deadlines.
- Identify potential project risks and help develop mitigation strategies.
- Track resource allocation and identify potential conflicts.
- Monitor project progress and report on status.
- Perform quality control tasks to ensure project standards are met.
- Conduct site visits as needed and manage project folders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with at least a 2.5 GPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
