About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in precast concrete manufacturing and structural design. You will work alongside plant experts and experienced engineers to apply your academic knowledge to real-world projects. You will be assigned a mentor for daily support and guidance.
What you'll do#
- Gain exposure to plant operations, including steel fabrication, material handling, quality control, the carpentry shop, the batch plant, and finishing processes.
- Participate in site visits to see the erection process firsthand.
- Assist experienced engineers with structural design and analysis using industry-standard software.
- Review technical drawings under professional guidance.
- Complete a mock design project.
- Adhere to all company and OSHA safety regulations at all times.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of structural engineering principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Adaptability regarding work schedules and tasks.
- Preferred: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or 3D modeling software, knowledge of building codes, and prior internship experience.
Location & details#
- Location: Greenville, South Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
- Environment: This is a hybrid role involving both office work and time in a plant environment. The plant area is not climate-controlled and requires the use of PPE, including safety glasses, high-visibility vests, hard hats, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection.
- Physical Requirements: The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 75 lbs, bending, and climbing stairs up to 15 feet.
