About the role#
The Deputy Chief Financial Officer’s Office is hiring multiple Co-op Students to support various finance teams. You will work with internal and external stakeholders on financial analysis, reporting, presentations, and process improvement. This role offers exposure to finance functions within a large public sector organization across areas including Accounting, Embedded Finance, and Financial Planning and Analysis.
What you'll do#
- Support business case financial modeling and monitor costs to inform performance management.
- Assist with ad hoc projects, including developing worksheet templates, updating process documentation, and preparing slides.
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports and documentation.
- Gather, input, and interpret data for meetings, reports, and projects.
- Prepare agendas, coordinate meetings, and take minutes for technical and operational sessions.
- Support year-end inventory counts and gather audit evidence in the external auditor’s portal.
- Maintain electronic and hardcopy filing systems and provide records management support.
- Recommend improvements to existing processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets, forms, and databases to track and store data.
- Present key findings to team members and management.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a recognized post-secondary co-op program.
- Eligibility to complete a co-op work term with plans to return to school afterward.
- Enrollment in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related program.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and gain exposure to various areas of finance.
