About the role#
Methode Electronics is seeking interns to support product development for exterior and interior vehicle lighting. You will work on custom-engineered solutions for automotive and commercial vehicles. This position provides hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of mechanical, optical, and electrical systems.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate on the design, simulation, and testing of systems, circuits, and prototypes.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical challenges.
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation like schematics, technical reports, and specifications.
- Conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze results to validate system performance.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and brainstorming sessions.
- Assist with bench testing prototypes and verifying system performance.
- Support the daily operations of the engineering team.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field.
- A foundation in engineering principles such as thermodynamics, physics, and electrical design.
- Experience with tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, or soldering.
- Hands-on experience with simulation software such as MATLAB, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, ANSYS, or LucidShape.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
