About the role#
The Safety Intern reports to the Safety Director and provides environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support to manufacturing operations. This is a full-time, on-site, unpaid internship role with rolling start dates.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with safety coordinators on specific safety topics and assist in training Shop Leaders to develop programs and increase employee engagement.
- Review and update safety policies and procedures.
- Manage OSHA record keeping for recordable injuries.
- Participate in incident investigations, conduct reviews, and prepare documentation using root cause methodologies.
- Compile and maintain safety statistics, analyze data for trends, and prepare advisory communications.
- Implement and document required EH&S training.
- Offer solutions for complex issues and lead employees and contractors in maintaining a safe team environment.
- Participate in or lead 6S teams to develop, improve, and execute programs that align with company performance indicators.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a safety-related degree program, such as Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Health Administration, Public Health, or Kinesiology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of applicable safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
