Safety Intern (Mayville)

About the role#

The Safety Intern reports to the Safety Director, providing EHS support to manufacturing operations at the Mayville and West Bend locations. This is a full-time, on-site, unpaid rolling internship.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with safety coordinators on specific safety topics and assist in training Shop Leaders to develop programs and increase employee engagement.
• Review and update safety policies and procedures.
• Manage OSHA record keeping for recordable injuries.
• Participate in incident investigations, utilizing root cause methodologies to prepare documentation.
• Compile safety statistics, analyze incident data for trends, and draft advisory or alert communications.
• Implement and document required EH&S training.
• Propose solutions to safety issues and lead personnel in maintaining a safe team environment.
• Participate in or lead 6S teams to improve programs aligned with company Key Performance Indicators.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a degree program related to Safety, such as Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Health Administration, Public Health, or Kinesiology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of applicable safety regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent customer service abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
