About the role#
The Safety Intern reports to the Safety Director, providing EHS support to manufacturing operations at the Mayville and West Bend locations. This is a full-time, on-site, unpaid rolling internship.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with safety coordinators on specific safety topics and assist in training Shop Leaders to develop programs and increase employee engagement.
- Review and update safety policies and procedures.
- Manage OSHA record keeping for recordable injuries.
- Participate in incident investigations, utilizing root cause methodologies to prepare documentation.
- Compile safety statistics, analyze incident data for trends, and draft advisory or alert communications.
- Implement and document required EH&S training.
- Propose solutions to safety issues and lead personnel in maintaining a safe team environment.
- Participate in or lead 6S teams to improve programs aligned with company Key Performance Indicators.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program related to Safety, such as Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Health Administration, Public Health, or Kinesiology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of applicable safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent customer service abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
