About the role#
Writing tutors help students with any writing task at any stage of the process. You will focus on sharing strategies and examples rather than doing the work for the client. This is a part-time position for 8 hours per week during the 2026-27 academic year.
What you'll do#
- Assist clients with invention, drafting, revising, and editing strategies.
- Perform administrative, promotional, and professional development tasks.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
- Attend mandatory weekly staff meetings on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6pm.
- Promote and participate in Writing Center events, activities, and projects.
- Participate in pre-semester orientation training.
- Visit classes to promote the Writing Center to students.
- Support the daily operations of the Writing Center.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least a second semester first-year student.
- Strong knowledge of academic writing conventions, specifically research papers and thesis-driven essays.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Openness to professional development and self-improvement.
- You must submit a cover letter, an academic writing sample, and the name of a faculty reference.
- Familiarity with the Writing Center and experience assisting others with writing are preferred.

- Location: Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

- Pay: $8.00 per hour.
