About the role#
McShane Construction is hiring interns for the Summer 2027 term. You will learn the activities required to sell, design, and construct a project. This includes project controls, schedule management, quality management, and safety. The program features training, field visits, job site tours, career coaching, and weekly intern roundtables.
What you'll do#
- Create, maintain, and manage project RFIs, submittals, material procurement, drawings, meeting minutes, punch lists, and closeouts.
- Assist in the review and approval process of project control documents.
- Confirm subcontractor insurance compliance and maintain project logs.
- Participate in the preparation and updates of project schedules.
- Become familiar with the company Quality Assurance Program and Manual.
- Manage Inspection Tracking Logs and QA/QC compliance logs.
- Learn the company Safety Program and help prepare specific project safety plans.
- Assist in weekly jobsite safety orientation meetings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ability to use a computer, the internet, and standard office software including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, self-starting attitude with a sense of initiative.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, reliability, and professionalism.
- A positive attitude and an eagerness to learn.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Nashville, Tennessee.
- The role is split between the local office and assigned jobsites.
