About the role#
Mawer is looking for an AI Orchestrator Student to help scale our investment research process. You will work with our internal AI platform to map research workflows, identify where AI can add value, and turn ideas into reliable solutions. This role focuses on connecting activities across the investment lifecycle, such as screening, deep-dive analysis, decision journaling, and risk management. You will work alongside research analysts, portfolio managers, and engineers to build practical tools that improve our overall process.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with analysts and portfolio managers to understand research workflows end to end.
- Identify opportunities where AI can improve the investment research process.
- Design and prototype connected AI workflows using existing models, agents, prompts, data, and tools.
- Work with engineers when deeper integrations are required.
- Use AI-assisted coding to build and iterate on practical solutions.
- Evaluate outputs for accuracy, source quality, reliability, and usefulness.
- Learn from user feedback and document trade-offs.
- Take ownership of a focused deliverable and communicate your findings.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and returning to full-time studies or graduating following the work term.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Relentless curiosity regarding how businesses work, how investors think, and how AI can help.
- Ability to act as a connector and improve overall workflows.
- Prototyping experience using AI.
- Adaptability and the ability to follow through on projects.
- Comfort wearing different hats and collaborating across teams.
- Hands-on experience building with AI-assisted coding tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- Experience experimenting with open-weight models on GPUs.
- A genuine interest in understanding businesses, investment research, financial analysis, or capital markets.
- Experience with LLMs, prompts, agents, workflow automation, APIs, or data tools.
- Ability to explain technical decisions and learnings.
