About the role#
This internship within the Annuity Finance organization offers exposure to the daily responsibilities of accounting professionals. You will manage a small book of business, performing core accounting functions ranging from journal entries to financial analysis. You will work alongside a collaborative team of leaders and participate in process improvement projects.
What you'll do#
- Record monthly journal entries and review trial balances in the general ledger system.
- Prepare reports, schedules, and financial statements for management use.
- Assist with the analysis of statutory and GAAP financial statements.
- Develop an understanding of statutory and GAAP accounting guidance specific to the insurance industry.
- Maintain documentation for processes and tasks.
- Compose analytical schedules and gather information for independent auditors.
- Perform routine accounting activities and support special projects as requested.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least your second year of a Bachelor's degree program in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
