About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Toronto, Canada. You will work on-site with the Optical PHY team to support the design and implementation of high-speed optical transceivers for communication infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Support the analog design team with architectural exploration and circuit implementation for blocks including PLLs, DLLs, ADCs, regulators, amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, and clock/data recovery circuits.
- Assist in design verification using SPICE, Spectre, and MATLAB.
- Work with layout, verification, and application teams to deliver analog IP from concept to tape-out.
- Participate in lab bring-up and debugging under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Document findings, contribute to design reviews, and learn analog and mixed-signal design practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Coursework or project experience in analog or mixed-signal circuit design.
- Exposure to design concepts such as PLLs, ADCs, oscillators, and SerDes (TX/RX).
- Familiarity with design tools like Virtuoso, Spectre, and ADE.
- A basic understanding of signal integrity, noise reduction, and clock generation techniques.
- Interest in learning about FinFET layout considerations.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
